Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. In October of 2016, Ari Lennox released her EP Pho. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 five Finger Discount. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently launched single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes, on Sweat It Out July 21st the 21st of July, 2015. The following year, her music was circulating all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. The news was released on December 8, she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she recorded with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. She released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she went on to guest feature on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The debut single, called Whipped Cream of the album came out September 5, 2018 with the music video. In November, she dropped the singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13, she released two additional singles, titled One and Pdigree. One or Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on the 26th of February, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole in The Creed II sound track on November 16. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was made available for the track. It already has nearly 3 million views on YouTube within its first week. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
